The Om meaning :
The Hindu religion considers Om or AUM as the sacred sound of the universe. It denotes the ultimate reality that unifies everything in the universe. Om helps us connect with our divine selves by energizing the chakras throughout the body, notably the third eye and the crown chakra. So, Om is the “seed” mantra for connecting and energizing the chakras.
The Om symbol represents cosmic sound in visual form. It has a lot of meaning attached to it. For instance, Om is treated as an essential spiritual symbol and is widely appreciated as the basic sound of the universe in most ancient Hindu texts. The Om symbol is visualized as a combination of curves, a crescent, and a dot. It represents the state of consciousness. The letter “A” represents the waking state, the letter “U” represents the dream state, and the letter “M” represents the state of deep sleep.
The bottom curve of the symbol Om represents the waking state, the middle curve represents the dream state, and the upper curve represents deep sleep.
The crescent shape in Om represents Maya or Illusion, which is regarded as an obstacle to reaching a state of bliss. The dot in the symbol Om represents the absolute state of peace and joy, the state in which one can truly connect with the Divine.
In deep sleep, the mind is shut down, desiring nothing. The waking state represents the consciousness that experiences the outer world with the five senses. The dream state is when consciousness is turned inwards. The absolute state is the ultimate spiritual state of being in which the consciousness faces neither inwards nor outwards.
In the Hindu scriptures, the symbol Om is also said to represent Lord Ganesha. The symbol loosely represents his elephant form. The curves on the left of the emblem represent his head and belly, and the curve on the right represents his trunk. Lord Ganesha is regarded as the God who removes obstacles. So, chanting Om helps us attain the absolute state of bliss.
The Om vibrations have also been linked with the vibrations that created the world.
In the Hindu scriptures, Lord Brahma’s thoughts started the vibration of the sound Om, leading to the world’s creation. Om also represents Pranava, which means to be in control of one’s life force. It represents the three realms of Earth, Heaven, and the Underworld.
Tree Of Life Meaning:
If you observe the Tree of Life symbol, you’ll see the way that the deep roots fan out in all directions while, at the same time, the branches reach skyward in the same pattern. This symbolizes how you and all living beings are connected to Mother Earth and the Universe.
The Tree of Life has been a symbol of creation across many ancient civilizations. For instance, Celtic, Norse, Mesopotamian, and Mayan mythology depict the Tree of Life as an Axis Mundi, standing in the centre of the universe and connecting the three realms of existence. The tree’s roots extend into the underworld, the trunk stays in the earthly plane, and the branches reach the heavens. This way, the Tree of Life is a gateway between the spiritual and physical realms, enabling the soul to traverse from the world of spirits to the world of matter.
The ancient Celts knew well that those great trees that stood in the middle of their fields, their Crann Bethadh, provided a gathering place, nourishment, shade, and shelter for birds and other animals. They recognized that trees allowed their people to prosper and that human life could not thrive without trees. Thus, their Tree of Life symbolizes the nourishment and prosperity trees provide for humans and the Earth.
